Santa Fe literary festival

When my author friend, James McGrath Morris, invited the New Mexico Book Association to display 45 books by NMBA members at the New Mexico Writers annual dinner in April, I was thrilled. The dinner, held at La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe, attracted some 150 writers, bookstore owners and literary agents. At the event, grants were awarded to aspiring writers throughout the state. With James’ support, the NMBA book display was re-assembled at the downtown Santa Fe Convention Center for an evening reception kicking off the second annual Santa Fe International Literary Festival in May. Sprinkled among the guests were noted New Mexican writers Hampton Sides and Anne Hillerman.

As Co-President of the New Mexico Book Association since January, I’m delighting in an uptick in membership as our activities spur engagement by writers, editors, publishers, publicists, photographers, book cover designers, and avid readers.
